North Africa

A view towards the Anti-Atlas by Ben Lovett (taken on fieldwork in 2010 funded by the Boise Fund)

Our work in North Africa is focused on developing climate records from geographically and climatically distinct areas in order to gain insight on the climatic systems influencing climate in the region, and how they have differed in the past.  We also work with archaeologists at Oxford to use these records to investigate how past climate, and in particular rapid climate change, influenced the prehistoric human populations who occupied the area.
