Oxford Stable Isotope Lab

The stable isotope lab is equipped with a Thermo Delta V Advantage isotope ratio mass spectrometer, which can be connected to a Kiel IV carbonate device. This set-up is predominantly used for stable isotope measurements in speleothem carbonates and foraminifiera, but can be adapted for other uses. The Delta V Advantage can also be interfaced with our Finnigan Gas Bench II for automated isotope ratio measurements of small gas/water samples.

The lab also includes a VG Isogas Prism III mass spectrometer with an online VG Isocarb common acid bath preparation system, which is used for measurements of stable isotopes in fine-grained carbonate samples.
